Guela Doué’s anticipated move to Galatasaray has fallen through, with the Turkish club citing unforeseen complications as the reason for the transfer’s collapse. The Ivorian international was poised to join Galatasaray this summer, but the deal has been derailed by issues with Doué’s representation.
Despite a preliminary agreement being reached between Galatasaray and Rennes, Doué’s entourage introduced unexpected demands that complicated the transfer process.
Galatasaray’s board member Ibrahim Hatipoğlu revealed the club’s frustration, stating, “We had reached an agreement with Rennes.
However, the player’s relatives complicated the process with different demands every day. Our rules and conditions were put to the test. He is no longer on our list.”
This sudden turn of events is likely to be a relief for Rennes’ head coach Julien Stéphan, who had reservations about Doué’s departure.
The coach had expressed a desire to retain the right-back for the upcoming season, as his presence is deemed crucial to Rennes’ defensive lineup.
With the transfer now off, Doué is expected to continue his tenure with Rennes, although Strasbourg has also shown interest in acquiring his services.
The collapse of the transfer deal highlights the complexities often involved in high-profile moves, particularly when negotiations extend beyond the core terms agreed upon by the clubs.
For now, Guela Doué remains part of the Rennes squad, and his future may still be subject to interest from other clubs as the transfer window progresses.
