Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Guinea international striker Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart on a four-year contract, the club announced on Thursday.
The 28-year-old Guirassy, who was born in Arles, France, joins Dortmund after a successful season with VfB Stuttgart, where he scored 28 goals and became the second-highest scorer in the Bundesliga last term.
Guirassy’s move to Dortmund was briefly put on hold due to an injury discovered during his initial medical visit.
However, the club was relieved to find that the injury was minor and did not affect his physical condition.
Guirassy expressed his excitement about joining Dortmund, citing the club’s rich history and his desire to win titles.
“All the children in the world who are interested in football know this club, know the black and yellow jersey and the yellow wall.
“I am very excited by all this by my new teammates. And it is important for me to say it: I came here to win titles. That is my goal. That is my motivation.”
Guirassy’s arrival is expected to precipitate the departure of Cote d’Ivoire striker Sébastien Haller.
The signing of Guirassy demonstrates Dortmund’s commitment to strengthening their attacking options and competing at the highest level in the upcoming season.
