Masitaoka FC sees key departures ahead of new season
Masitaoka Football Club of Botswana has announced the departure of five key players from its squad, marking a significant shift as the club prepares for the upcoming season.
In a statement released on their digital platforms, the club expressed gratitude for the contributions of goalkeeper Victor James, defender Obusitswe Gabadise, and midfielders Obakeng Ramothlwa and Olebogeng Ramotse, as well as forward Bakang Tsholang.
“We express our deep gratitude to these players for their contributions during their stay with us. We thank them all for their excellent service and the club wishes them good luck in their future projects,” the club’s management said.
These departures signal a new chapter for Masitaoka, often referred to as the Majatlhaga, who will need to rebuild and regroup in light of these changes.
Attempts to Retain Key Players Prove Unsuccessful
Despite efforts to retain these pivotal members, Masitaoka FC found itself unable to secure their services for another season.
The club made several attempts to negotiate new contracts, but all five players ultimately decided to move on.
“The club wanted to keep them, but they all rejected the new offers proposed by the club on several occasions,” the board of directors explained.
Player Contributions
Each departing player has made notable contributions to the team.
- Victor James, the 35-year-old goalkeeper, played 35 games and kept 12 clean sheets over three seasons. His experience and skill between the posts have been invaluable.
- Obusitswe Gabadise, a solid defender, appeared in 57 games over two seasons, providing consistency and strength to the backline.
- Obakeng Ramothlwa contributed significantly in midfield with 41 games and 2 goals in his two seasons with the club. His vision and playmaking abilities were crucial in the middle of the park.
- Olebogeng Ramotse brought versatility and tenacity, playing 85 games and scoring 10 goals during his four seasons. His presence was a steadying influence in midfield.
- Bakang Tsholang was a key player upfront, scoring 11 goals in 66 games over three seasons. His goal-scoring prowess and attacking flair made him a constant threat to opposition defenses.
A New Era for Masitaoka FC
The departure of these players, all of whom were instrumental in the club’s promotion to the Botswana Premier League during the 2020-2021 season, marks a period of transition for Masitaoka FC.
The club now faces the challenge of rebuilding its squad and finding new talents to fill the void left by these experienced and influential figures.
As the team prepares for the new season, the focus will likely shift to integrating new players and developing existing ones to ensure that Masitaoka FC remains competitive in the Botswana Premier League.
The club’s management and fans will undoubtedly look forward to seeing how the team evolves and responds to these significant changes.
Masitaoka FC’s dedication to growth and success will be tested in the coming months as they navigate this period of transformation.
The club’s supporters will be hoping that the new season brings renewed energy and achievements, building on the legacy left by those who have departed.
