Josha Vagnoman: Hull City eye move for Stuttgart and Germany defender
Josha Vagnoman, the Germany and Cote d’Ivoire right-back currently at Stuttgart, is the subject of interest from Premier League side Hull City as the English club assess options to strengthen their defence. The 25-year-old is under contract with the Bundesliga club until June 2028, meaning any deal is likely to require a significant fee.
Vagnoman, who has been a regular in the German top flight, has made 95 Bundesliga appearances with six goals and 10 assists, offering both defensive cover and attacking output from full-back. His current valuation stands at around €10m, and Stuttgart are expected to point to his long-term deal and recent contributions when fielding any approaches.
Hull’s interest comes as Vagnoman’s reputation has grown during his spell in Stuttgart, where he arrived from Hamburg in July 2022 for €4.5m. Since then he has also gained experience in European competition, including appearances in both the Europa League and Champions League, further underlining his exposure to high-level football.
The Hamburg-born defender, who stands at 1.90m and plays primarily at right-back, enjoyed a successful 2024-25 campaign as part of the Stuttgart side that lifted the German Cup. He has previously been recognised at youth level with a Fritz Walter silver medal and was part of Germany’s Under-21 European Championship-winning squad in 2021.
With Vagnoman tied to Stuttgart for another two years beyond this summer, the Bundesliga club retain a strong negotiating position as Hull City weigh up whether to turn their interest into a formal bid.
