Maxwell Konadu reflects on coaching career and favourite players

Maxwell Konadu, a distinguished figure in Ghanaian football, has recently reflected on the standout players he has coached during his illustrious career. Renowned for guiding Asante Kotoko to the 2012 Ghana Premier League title, Konadu’s influence extends to his significant contributions as Assistant Coach of the Black Stars during two separate tenures, from 2012 to 2013 and again from 2014 to 2019.

Following his recent success with Nsoatreman FC, where he led the team to an historic FA Cup victory, Konadu is poised to embark on a new chapter as he prepares to join South African club Black Leopards on a three-year deal.

In an interview with 3sports, Konadu offered insights into the exceptional talents he has managed over the years.

Konadu did not hesitate to name some of the most remarkable players he has had the privilege to coach. “I have coached top players.

They are many: Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, Dede Ayew, and Agyeman Badu,” he stated.

These names are well-known in the world of football, each having made significant contributions to the sport both locally and internationally.

Sulley Muntari, celebrated for his powerful shots and robust midfield presence, has been a crucial player for both club and country.

His tenure at clubs like Inter Milan and AC Milan, coupled with his performances for the Ghanaian national team, highlights the impact he has had on the field.

Muntari’s skill set and experience have left an indelible mark on the teams he has been part of, making him one of the standout players in Konadu’s coaching career.

Asamoah Gyan

Asamoah Gyan, another notable mention, is Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer.

Known for his remarkable goal-scoring ability and charismatic leadership, Gyan has played in various top leagues around the world, including the Premier League and the UAE Pro League.

His contributions to the Black Stars, particularly in World Cup tournaments, have cemented his legacy as one of Africa’s greatest strikers.

Andre Ayew

Andre “Dede” Ayew, son of the legendary Abedi Pele, has consistently showcased his versatility and skill on the field.
