Ahmed Diab responds to Zamalek’s demand for external committee to oversee league matches
In a statement on “On Time Sports,” Diab firmly rejected Zamalek’s proposal. “I completely disagree with Zamalek’s request for a neutral committee outside of the Football Association and the Clubs Association to organize the Egyptian Premier League matches,” he stated.
“The Football Association and the Clubs Association are elected bodies, just like the board of directors of Zamalek, and their terms are nearing completion.”
Diab questioned the feasibility and appropriateness of Zamalek’s demand, highlighting the democratic process that governs these sports bodies. “When their terms end, the clubs will have the right to elect new representatives.
Is it acceptable for me to say that I want a committee from outside the board of directors of Zamalek to negotiate with us as an association?”
He acknowledged the issues within the current refereeing system, admitting that it needs improvement. “Yes, we acknowledge that the refereeing system is flawed and needs to be changed. There have been numerous complaints from various clubs, not just Zamalek.”
Diab also addressed the specific concern regarding the scheduling of postponed matches, which Zamalek claims lack neutrality. “You say that the postponed matches are not scheduled neutrally.
The only criterion for neutrality is that matches are played according to the draw and that postponed matches occur on the same day and at the same time.”
