The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has officially decided to replace the referee for the upcoming World Cup qualifying match between Algeria and Guinea.
Originally scheduled to be officiated by Gabonese referee Ghislaine Attcho, the decision to appoint new referees was confirmed on Friday.
The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced on their official website that they received a formal notification from FIFA regarding the change.
The correspondence indicated that both the main referee and the fourth official initially assigned to the match, slated for June 6 at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, would be replaced.
In place of Attcho, Ethiopian referee Bamlak Tessema Weyesa has been appointed to oversee the critical third-round qualifier for the 2026 World Cup.
Assisting him will be Elvis Guy Noupue Nguegoue from Cameroon and Liban Abdulrazak Ahmed from Djibouti. Another Ethiopian, Theodros Mitiku, will serve as the fourth official.
Furthermore, the FAF statement highlighted that FIFA has appointed Jean-Didier Masamba Malonga from the Democratic Republic of Congo as the match commissioner.
