Zamalek delegation returns to Cairo with players given 24-hour rest
This Monday morning saw the return of the Zamalek team delegation to Cairo, arriving on a private plane from the Kingdom of Morocco. Their return followed the match against Morocco’s Renaissance Berkane on Sunday evening in the first leg of the African Confederation Cup final, which ended with the home team’s victory with a score of 1-2.
The delegation consisted of 76 players and administrators, led by Hussein Labib, the chairman of Zamalek Sporting Club’s board of directors.
The delegation completed its arrival procedures aboard the private plane arriving from the Moroccan city of Oujda.
Portuguese coach Jose Gomez will grant the players only a one-day rest today before beginning preparations for the return leg scheduled for next Sunday, May 19th, at the Cairo International Stadium.
Tickets for the return match between Zamalek and Renaissance Berkane were sold out within hours of being released for sale, as the team’s fans seek to reclaim continental titles that have been absent since winning the CAF Confederation Cup in 2019 and the CAF Super Cup in 2020.
