Bernard Parker’s position at TS Galaxy is uncertain, with sources indicating the former Kaizer Chiefs star could leave the club altogether.
The 39-year-old was recently moved back into an assistant coach role while he completes his coaching qualifications, according to an announcement by chairman Tim Sukazi two weeks ago.
Parker had initially been placed in charge of the club’s DDC team before joining Adnan Beganovic’s coaching staff as assistant head coach in April last year.
However, sources close to the situation have told the Siya crew that his time with TS Galaxy could now come to an end. The reasons behind a possible departure have not been established, although well-placed sources say the former Bafana Bafana international is considering his options after the latest changes to the coaching structure.
The uncertainty follows Sukazi’s public confirmation that TS Galaxy are looking for a UEFA Pro-licensed coach. The club wants to add greater experience to its technical team, with Parker expected to be able to work alongside and learn from the new appointment.
That search could leave Parker with a limited route towards further development in his current position, particularly after his return to the role of assistant coach.
Parker weighs up next move
Parker ended his playing career in 2023 after a decorated spell in professional football and began his coaching journey with TS Galaxy. He had appeared settled in his role supporting Beganovic.
The recent demotion, combined with the club’s efforts to appoint a more senior coach above him, may have led Parker to reconsider his future at the club.
Representatives close to Parker are understood to be keeping a close watch on developments while TS Galaxy continue their search for a UEFA Pro-licensed coach.
A decision on whether Parker remains with the Rockets is expected in the coming days.
