Widening gulf despite victory over Soviet Union
Amidst the jubilation of a triumphant 3-0 victory over the Soviet Union, coach Amar Souieh of ES Setif expressed his dissatisfaction with the performance displayed by his team’s attackers in yesterday’s match, marking the 25th round of the professional league.
Despite ES Setif securing a convincing win over their Soviet Union guests, propelling them temporarily to fourth place with 41 points, the Tunisian coach did not mince his words in critiquing the offensive line.
“In theory, it was a match within reach, and we secured three points. However, we aimed for a better result and attempted to strengthen the attack in the second half.
Yet there was a lack of focus and poor choices regarding offensive solutions,” Souieh remarked.
The Tunisian technician continued in statements directed to ES Setif’s official page, “These issues (referring to the lack of focus and poor offensive choices) left us settling for this result.”
Before adding, “Overall, we’ve gained three points that improve our position in the standings. Furthermore, we’ve provided opportunities for players who haven’t seen much action this season.”
Souieh concluded, “We will continue working diligently, resolute in finishing the season under optimal conditions. Each match will be approached with determination to conclude the championship in the highest standing possible.”
The post-match critique by Souieh underscores the high standards set by ES Setif, despite the victory, highlighting the team’s aspirations for excellence as they navigate through the remainder of the season.
