Zamalek’s financial troubles deepened this week as Polish winger Konrad Michalak lodged an official complaint with FIFA, seeking $750,000 in unpaid dues.
The move adds pressure on the Cairo giants, who have struggled with off-field issues in recent months.
According to a club insider, the complaint was filed last week.
“Michalak filed his complaint a week ago, due to his overdue financial dues, demanding $750,000,” the source said.
The Zamalek board is now attempting to resolve the matter privately in hopes of avoiding further legal complications.
“Zamalek’s board of directors is trying to reach an amicable solution with the player to avoid any developments in the case with FIFA. The board recognises the player’s legitimate rights, but is keen to strike a balance that protects the club’s budget from financial pressure.”
Michalak terminated his contract in February while on loan from Saudi club Ohod, citing unpaid wages. His case now adds to the growing list of financial challenges facing the Egyptian side, as they aim to maintain stability both on and off the pitch.
