Zamalek ready to sell Juan Bezerra after Shabab Al Ahli increase offer

Zamalek are now prepared to sell Brazilian forward Juan Bezerra after Shabab Al Ahli increased their offer for the player to $5m, according to a source at the Egyptian club.

The UAE side’s revised proposal was discussed during a new meeting involving Zamalek, Bezerra’s lawyer and his agent in recent hours. The payment structure has also been changed, with the transfer fee now due in instalments over a maximum period of six months.

The source told FilGoal.com: “A new meeting took place in the past few hours between the club, Juan Bezerra’s lawyer and his agent. It was confirmed that Shabab Al Ahli’s offer had been increased to $5m, with the payment method changed to instalments over a maximum of six months. Zamalek would receive a large part of the fee immediately after signing.”

Zamalek have informed Bezerra’s lawyer that the player must return to Cairo to discuss the offer formally before any decision is finalised.

However, the current expectation is that the club will proceed with a sale. The source said the decision was influenced by Bezerra’s failure to report for duty, his determination to leave and concerns that Zamalek might not benefit from him on the pitch even if he returned.

“The direction now is to sell the player because of his lack of commitment, his insistence on leaving and the fear that he would not provide technical benefit even if he returned,” the source said. “The matter will be settled within a few days.”

Bezerra has refused to return to Cairo for Zamalek’s pre-season camp because he wants to complete a move to Shabab Al Ahli in the United Arab Emirates.

Zamalek had previously rejected an offer from the UAE club. That decision led Bezerra to maintain his position and refuse to rejoin the team.

The Brazilian has not been involved since the beginning of the season, with Zamalek having played four matches without him after he failed to return to Cairo.

The latest discussions suggest the dispute is moving towards a resolution, with the increased offer and revised payment terms giving Zamalek the opportunity to conclude the transfer while securing a substantial initial payment. The club has nevertheless made clear that Bezerra’s return to Cairo is required before it formally considers the proposal.

For now, the player remains absent from Zamalek’s squad, while the club and Shabab Al Ahli are expected to settle the final details of the deal in the coming days.
