Zamalek move to avoid sanctions

Egyptian giants Zamalek are reportedly working to resolve their ongoing dispute with Moroccan defender Sallah Moussaddaq in an effort to avoid further sanctions from FIFA.

The club’s management has opened communication with the former player, who currently plays for Wydad Casablanca, as they seek an amicable settlement over his outstanding financial dues before FIFA rules on the case.

According to Egyptian media reports, Zamalek are eager to prevent another transfer registration ban, with the club already facing multiple cases at FIFA linked to financial and contractual disputes.

Reports indicate that Mosaddak decided to terminate his contract with Zamalek unilaterally after the club allegedly failed to pay his outstanding salaries within the warning period he had issued.

The Moroccan international is said to have instructed his lawyer and agent to begin legal proceedings in order to claim the remaining value of his contract, which reportedly extended for three seasons. The move was made in accordance with FIFA regulations relating to unilateral contract termination for financial reasons.

Sources close to the situation claim Zamalek are expected to hold further discussions with the player and his representatives in the coming days in an attempt to reach a settlement agreement.

The dispute is also connected to Moroccan club Renaissance Zemamra, where Sallah Moussaddaq played before joining Zamalek. The Egyptian side reportedly faced a registration suspension linked to unpaid transfer fees owed to the Moroccan club following the defender’s transfer.

Sallah Moussaddaq later left Zamalek and completed a move to Wydad Casablanca, while Renaissance Zemamra reportedly demanded the remaining balance of the transfer fee, estimated at around 250,000 dollars.

The situation has added further pressure on Zamalek’s management as the club attempts to resolve several financial disputes and avoid additional FIFA sanctions ahead of the new season.
