Goncalo Ramos scores first Milan goal as Rossoneri beat Venezia

Milan maintained their strong start to the Serie A season with a 2-0 victory over Venezia, securing a second successive win under manager Ruben Amorim.

Goncalo Ramos opened his Milan account in the second half before an own goal from Hlehal completed the scoring at San Siro. The result also ended Milan’s run of four league matches without a victory at home.

Milan started the game with clear attacking intent and nearly took the lead after 12 minutes. Ramos found himself through on goal but could not beat Venezia goalkeeper Stankovic, who stood up well to deny the forward.

Venezia responded with dangerous moments of their own and came close to breaking the deadlock. Adams Wepoyah missed two chances in quick succession, with the second opportunity producing a particularly strong save from Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

The visitors continued to pose a threat as the first half progressed, ensuring Milan could not settle despite their early pressure. The home side were also unable to find a breakthrough before the interval.

Milan increased the intensity after the restart and came close again when Musa struck the crossbar. The opportunity underlined the hosts’ growing control, but Venezia remained in the contest until the decisive moment.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 70th minute. Saelemaekers delivered an excellent pass into Ramos’ path, and the forward finished confidently with his right foot into the bottom corner.

It was Ramos’ first goal in a Milan shirt and gave Amorim’s side the advantage they had been pushing for. The goal also rewarded a spell of sustained pressure from the hosts, who had already threatened through Ramos and Musa earlier in the match.

Venezia tried to respond in the closing stages, but Milan added a second in unusual circumstances. Stankovic saved a shot from Jashari, only for the rebound to strike Hlehal and roll into the Venezia net.

The unfortunate deflection gave Milan a two-goal cushion and effectively settled the match, with Venezia unable to produce a late response.

The victory means Milan have won both of their opening league fixtures this season. They began the campaign with an away victory over Torino before following it up against Venezia at San Siro.

For Milan, the result represents another positive step under Amorim as they continue their early-season momentum. Their home success was particularly significant after a sequence of four Serie A matches at San Siro without a win.

Venezia, meanwhile, were denied the chance to collect their first point of the new season. The newly promoted side showed enough attacking threat to trouble Milan at times, but missed opportunities and the late own goal left them empty-handed.
