Zamalek consider Abdallah El Said contract termination request amid unpaid dues
Zamalek are considering a request from Abdallah El Said to terminate his contract by mutual consent, but the Egyptian club say no agreement has yet been reached with the midfielder.
El Said has continued to miss Zamalek training ahead of the new season because of outstanding payments. The 40-year-old remains under contract with the club until the summer of 2027.
A source at Zamalek told FilGoal.com: “It is incorrect that an agreement has been reached to terminate Abdallah El Said’s contract with Zamalek by mutual consent.”
The source added: “The player has indeed submitted a request, but it has not been implemented yet because some administrative and financial matters must first be examined to protect the club’s rights.”
“All options remain open to Zamalek’s board of directors, and the club is not responsible for what is being reported in the media,” the source said.
The source concluded: “We are studying Abdallah El Said’s situation from every angle to ensure the club’s interests before making a final decision on the player’s future.”
El Said was expected to return to Zamalek training after coming back from holiday in Greece. However, despite returning from the country, he has not yet rejoined the squad.
A source close to El Said previously told FilGoal.com: “The player received more than one promise that he would receive his outstanding dues, but only a very small portion of them was paid and he is waiting to receive the rest of his dues.”
Zamalek are currently holding a training camp in the New Capital as they prepare for the coming campaign.
El Said helped Zamalek win the Egyptian Premier League title last season. The club have since announced the coaching, administrative and medical staff who will oversee the first team during the new season.
Moataz Gamal will remain as head coach, while Abdel Nasser Mohamed will continue as football director. Salah Soliman has joined the new coaching staff as an assistant coach, and Nuno Costa Ribeiro will continue as the fitness coach.
Fabio Ferreira has also joined the staff as a performance analyst, replacing Fabio Nuno, who worked with the team last season.
Mohamed Osama has returned as head of the medical department after spending the previous season away from the club.
Zamalek will begin their Egyptian Premier League campaign against Al Ittihad Alexandria on Friday, 21 August, at Cairo International Stadium.
