The promising career of Youssoufa Moukoko, the German-Cameroonian football talent currently on loan at OGC Nice, has been thrown into turmoil following explosive allegations concerning his true age and identity.
Revelations have emerged casting doubt on his claimed birth date and even his paternity, raising serious questions about his rise to prominence in European football.
Joseph Moukoko, who had long been identified as the player’s father, has come forward with shocking statements.
In an interview with German tabloid Bild, he denied any biological or legal connection to Youssoufa.
Furthermore, he claimed that the player’s reported birth date—November 20, 2004, in Yaoundé—was a complete fabrication.
Joseph Moukoko detailed what he described as a “carefully orchestrated scheme” to falsify Youssoufa’s age.
According to his testimony, the player obtained forged documents, including a counterfeit birth certificate and passport.
These documents purportedly made Moukoko appear four years younger than his actual age, allowing him to be presented as a 16-year-old player when, in reality, he would have been born on July 19, 2000.

In addition, he asserted that the player’s true name was Youssoufa Mohamadou.
The alleged manipulation of Moukoko’s age could explain his remarkable achievements at a young age.
From dominating the U17 Champions League with Borussia Dortmund in 2018 to representing Germany at the U21 Euro in 2021, the alleged falsification might have given him an unfair advantage over his peers.
A comprehensive investigation by Bild in Cameroon has added weight to the allegations.
The publication uncovered records of a Youssoufa Mohamadou, born in 2000, who was reportedly the son of Ousman Mohamadou, a local taxi driver.
Residents familiar with the family corroborated this account, further validating Joseph Moukoko’s claims.
In response to the allegations, Borussia Dortmund has remained cautious, stating that they rely on official German documents confirming Moukoko’s identity and age for competition purposes.
The club has not yet issued a detailed comment on the gravity of the accusations.
Should these revelations prove true, the consequences could be significant. Both Moukoko and Borussia Dortmund may face severe legal and sporting ramifications.
The case has not only put the player’s career in jeopardy but also raised broader concerns about the integrity of player registrations in professional football.
