Youssef Belammari speaks out after Al Ahly ACL injury

Youssef Belammari says he will approach his rehabilitation with patience and determination after suffering a serious knee injury that is expected to keep the Al Ahly defender out for a long period.

The Morocco left-back sustained a rupture to the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, ruling him out of action for the foreseeable future. Al Ahly moved quickly to strengthen the position in his absence, signing left-back Tawfik Mohamed from Petrojet.

Belammari addressed the injury in a message on his Instagram account, writing: “Praise be to God in every situation, and God has decreed, and whatever He wills, He does.”

He added: “I am going through one of the most difficult moments of my career today, but I believe in the will and decree of God. I also believe that every hardship carries within it a lesson and a new beginning.”

The 26-year-old said he understood that injuries were part of professional football, while acknowledging the challenge posed by the recovery ahead.

“An injury is part of football, and this period may be difficult and long, but I will deal with it with patience and determination,” he wrote. “I will do everything I can to return in the best condition possible.”

Belammari also thanked those who had contacted him or offered their support since the injury was confirmed.

“I sincerely thank everyone who asked about me, everyone who contacted me and everyone who supported me with a kind word or a prayer,” he said. “Your support means a great deal to me, and I will never forget it.”

The defender then promised to commit himself fully to his rehabilitation, with the aim of returning stronger.

“I promise you that I will fight every day and work with all my strength during the rehabilitation period so that I can return to the pitch stronger and more determined, God willing,” Belammari wrote.

“Thank you to the Moroccan fans and the Al Ahly fans for your love and constant support. Please keep me in your prayers. God willing, what is coming will be better.”

Belammari joined Al Ahly during the previous winter transfer window, arriving from Raja CA. His injury leaves the Egyptian club without one of its options at left-back for an extended period, prompting the move for Tawfik Mohamed.

The club’s decision to recruit from Petrojet provides immediate cover in the position, while Belammari begins what is expected to be a lengthy recovery from the ACL rupture. His message made clear that he intends to remain focused on rehabilitation and a return to competitive football.
