Yan Diomande sparks transfer intrigue after stripping RB Leipzig from social media

RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande has fuelled fresh uncertainty over his future after deleting almost all social media posts linked to the Bundesliga club, according to German newspaper BILD.

The 19-year-old Ivory Coast winger, who enjoyed a breakout campaign last season, has removed the vast majority of Leipzig-related content from his accounts, a move that has intensified speculation over a potential transfer.

BILD reports that several of Europe’s biggest clubs are monitoring Diomande, with Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Manchester City all named as admirers. Liverpool are also described as a long-standing possible destination for the teenager.

Leipzig, however, are understood to be determined to keep the player and would demand at least €120m for any deal to be considered. The German side are keen to secure his long-term future and hope he will remain in the Bundesliga for at least one more season.

PSG agreement reported but no bid yet

According to BILD, Diomande is believed to have reached an agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain over a contract running until 2031. Despite that reported understanding between the player and the French champions, there has so far been no formal offer submitted by PSG to RB Leipzig.

Leipzig’s stance remains that they want to build around the attacker rather than sell him, especially after his emergence as a key figure last season. The club is said to be working towards keeping him in Germany and tying him down on a longer-term basis.

Echoes of Xavi Simons exit

Diomande’s online activity has drawn particular attention in Germany because of its resemblance to the departure of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig last year.

Before securing his move away, Simons also wiped references to the club from his Instagram profile, a step that was widely interpreted as a signal of an impending transfer. His case has inevitably been cited as a possible precedent for what Diomande’s actions might imply.

However, BILD stresses that Diomande is not regarded as a disruptive influence inside the dressing room. On the contrary, he is described as having a strong appreciation for RB Leipzig and the environment in which he has developed.

The newspaper notes that the Ivorian has “truly established himself” at the club over the past season, suggesting his rise in profile is a major factor behind the growing interest from elsewhere.

Leipzig not in ‘alarm’ mode – for now

Despite the social media clear-out and the mounting transfer rumours, the report indicates that RB Leipzig are not yet in a state of alarm over Diomande’s situation.

The club are aware of the attention he is attracting from Europe’s elite and of the reports linking him with a long-term agreement at PSG, but their position is that he remains an important part of their plans.
