Wydad Casablanca head coach Amine Benhachem has taken bold steps to reshape his squad, urging the club to sign two Moroccan players currently with top Egyptian sides Al Ahly and Zamalek.
Benhachem has set his sights on winger Reda Selim of Al Ahly and defender Salah El-Din Mossadek of Zamalek as part of a summer rebuild following Wydad’s poor outing at the Club World Cup. The team exited the tournament without a point, losing all three matches against Manchester City, Juventus, and Al Ain.
The coach, backed by club president Hicham Ait Mena, has already agreed to release 21 players from the current squad to make room for new talent.
Reda Selim, a former Al Ahly player, previously declared he would only represent the Army if he returned to Moroccan football. Meanwhile, Mossadek is no stranger to Wydad fans, having played for the club before moving to Zamalek.
With Benhachem leading a significant overhaul, Wydad is betting on familiar faces to restore pride and compete strongly next season.
