Morocco took another important step in its preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after holding its first training session on American soil on Thursday, June 4, following the team’s arrival in New Jersey ahead of the global tournament.

Ouahbi Oversees Opening Workout

Head coach Mohammed Ouahbi and his technical team led the session at the Pingry School training facilities as the Atlas Lions began fine-tuning their preparations for the World Cup.

The training program featured a combination of physical, technical and tactical drills designed to improve fitness levels, sharpen match readiness and strengthen cohesion within the squad ahead of the competition.

Supporters Turn Out in Large Numbers

The opening training session was partially accessible to the public, with supporters allowed to watch for one hour.

A significant number of Moroccan fans based in the United States attended the session to welcome the team and show their support. Their presence created a vibrant atmosphere and demonstrated the strong backing the Atlas Lions continue to enjoy among the Moroccan diaspora.

The enthusiastic reception also reflected the growing profile of the national team following its impressive performances in recent years.

Friendly Against Norway Next on the Agenda

Morocco’s preparations will continue with an international friendly against Norway on June 7 at Red Bull Arena.

The match will be the fifth under the leadership of Ouahbi as he continues to shape the squad ahead of the World Cup. In his first four games in charge, Morocco recorded three consecutive victories after opening his tenure with a 1-1 draw against Ecuador.

Atlas Lions Set for Challenging Group Stage

Morocco will kick off its World Cup campaign on June 13 with a high-profile clash against Brazil in New York.

The Atlas Lions will then travel to Boston to face Scotland on June 19 before rounding off their group stage schedule against Haiti in Atlanta on June 24 as they aim to secure a place in the knockout rounds.
