England coach Tuchel warns Ghana

England coach Thomas Tuchel has fired a stern warning to Ghana ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup Group L clash on Tuesday.

The European heavyweights head into the game after an entertaining 4-2 victory over Croatia, while Ghana opened their campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Panama thanks to Caleb Yirenkyi’s decisive strike.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Tuchel admitted Ghana remain one of the toughest opponents in the group despite England’s strong start to the tournament.

“It’s bad news for Ghana because we will be very motivated,” the German trainer said.

“We are playing in one of the most difficult groups, and Ghana is a traditional top football country with outstanding players. Ghana play with a lot of physicality, quality and speed. They don’t mind if they don’t have the ball.”

Tuchel’s comments reflect the growing respect for the Black Stars camp following their disciplined display against Panama in Toronto.

The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich coach believes Ghana’s ability to defend compactly and attack quickly in transition could create problems for any side in the competition.

The match has already attracted huge global attention due to the history and quality attached to both nations, with Ghana hoping to continue their impressive record against European giants at the World Cup.

For Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz and his players, Tuchel’s remarks will likely serve as added motivation ahead of what could prove to be the decisive fixture in Group L.

A victory for either side would place them in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stage, making Monday’s showdown one of the most anticipated matches of the group phase.
