DR Congo arrive in Mexico for Colombia clash

DR Congo delegation have arrived in Mexico ahead of their second Group K fixture at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with preparations now in full swing for a decisive encounter against Colombia.

The Leopards touched down in Guadalajara on Tuesday, 23 June, as attention quickly shifted to their next test in the tournament being jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

DR Congo opened their World Cup campaign with a hard-fought draw against Portugal, a result that boosted confidence within the camp and kept their qualification hopes firmly alive.

Now, Sébastien Desabre’s side are targeting all three points as they look to strengthen their position in Group K and move a step closer to securing a place in the knockout stage.

Their opponents, Colombia, provide a stern test, with the South Americans also pushing for progression in a tightly contested group. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24 at the Estadio Akron in Guadalajara.

The Leopards will be relying on their organisation, physical intensity, and quick transitions to trouble a Colombian side known for its attacking quality and technical ability.

After earning a valuable point in their opening fixture, DR Congo know that another positive result could significantly boost their chances of advancing, with the final group games approaching quickly.

As the stakes rise, anticipation continues to build around what promises to be a high-intensity clash in Guadalajara, where both teams will be aiming to take a major step toward the Round of 32.
