Rayan Aït-Nouri speaks ahead of Algeria’s World Cup 2026 knockout match against Switzerland

Rayan Aït-Nouri has insisted Algeria will approach their World Cup 2026 Round of 32 tie against Switzerland with full commitment, saying the team’s objective is to “have no regrets” as they prepare for a decisive knockout encounter.

Speaking in the mixed zone ahead of the match, the Manchester City left-back underlined the significance of the fixture, stressing that Algeria understand the stakes involved as they look to extend their run in the tournament.

“Tomorrow, we’ll play a knockout game. We’re preparing to be ready. The main thing is to give it our all tomorrow. Whatever the result, the goal is to have no regrets. We want to go as far as possible in this competition and we’re going to do everything we can to achieve that.”

Algeria have shown gradual improvement since the start of the competition, and Aït-Nouri believes their progress is rooted in the strength of the collective rather than reliance on individual talent.

He pointed to the unity within the squad as a key factor heading into one of their most important matches in recent years.

Despite having several highly rated players within the team, Aït-Nouri stressed that the emphasis remains on teamwork and cohesion as they prepare to face a disciplined Swiss side.

“We have a lot of very good players and we enjoy working together. Tomorrow will be a big match and we hope to be ready.”

The defender also highlighted the mentality within Vladimir Petković’s squad, suggesting that there is a clear and shared focus among the players as they approach the knockout stage.

According to Aït-Nouri, the message within the camp has been consistent, with everyone aligned on the objective of reaching the last 16.

“We all have one clear idea in mind: to qualify. Determination will be key.”

Algeria now turn their attention fully to the clash with Switzerland, a match that will decide whether their World Cup journey continues or comes to an end. Aït-Nouri’s comments reflect a squad aware of the challenge ahead but determined to approach it with belief and unity.
