Werder Bremen weigh up next move for Wesley Adeh
Werder Bremen are still deciding the next step for 19-year-old defensive midfielder Wesley Adeh after an injury-hit first professional season.
The German youth international struggled with knocks and could not make a lasting impression, appearing just 12 times for the U23 before being sidelined since early December. He was named in the Bundesliga squad three times last term but never stepped onto the pitch.
“He is one of those who, unfortunately, have not yet been able to properly present themselves to (coach) Daniel Thioune due to injuries,” explained Werder’s Head of Professional Football Peter Niemeyer.
Several clubs have now taken notice of the no. 6, though no concrete talks or decisions have materialised yet. “There are several scenarios for Wes for the upcoming season. Both a loan and staying are possible,” said Niemeyer. A summer loan is seen as a realistic option to help him regain rhythm elsewhere.
If Adeh stays in Bremen, the plan is a careful build-up with regular training alongside the professionals and match practice in the Regionalliga Nord, aiming to follow a similar path to Karim Coulibaly, Patrice Covic or Salim Musah.
