Vozinha: Atletico-GO linked with move for Cape Verde goalkeeper free agent
Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, currently a free agent after leaving Portuguese side GD Chaves, has been linked with a move to Brazilian Serie B club Atletico-GO.
The 40-year-old, born in Mindelo and listed at 1.89m tall, became unattached on 1 July 2026 when his contract with Chaves expired, and is now being discussed as a free-transfer option for the Goiania club. The rumour, logged on 5 July with a reported probability marked only as ?, underlines that talks are at an exploratory stage rather than an advanced negotiation.
Vozinha, whose full career has been spent as a right-footed goalkeeper, is currently valued at 50,000 (42,000) on Transfermarkt, a relatively modest figure that makes him an inexpensive option for Atletico-GO should they decide to reinforce their goalkeeping department during the Serie B campaign.
The veterans most recent competitive football came with Chaves in Portugals top flight, following a move from Slovak club AS Trencin in July 2024. Before that, he had a lengthy spell with AEL Limassol in Cyprus, where his market value peaked at 600,000 in April 2018, reflecting his status then as a regular starter in the Cypriot First Division.
Across a career that has taken him from Cape Verdean sides Batuque FC and CS Mindelense to Angolas Progresso do Sambizanga, Moldovas FC Zimbru Chisinau, Portugals Gil Vicente, Cyprus, Slovakia and finally back to Portugal with Chaves, Vozinha has built a reputation as an experienced last line of defence.
While no fee would be involved due to his free-agent status, Atletico-GO must still decide whether to formalise their interest in a deal that, if completed, would offer Vozinha one more move in a career already marked by its breadth of leagues and countries.
