Villarreal will attempt to end Paris Saint-Germain’s unbeaten run when the sides meet in the fourth matchday of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
The match will begin at 19:00 GMT at the Estadio Ceramica, with Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi and Senegal winger Pape Gueye expected to face one another again.
The fixture could revive memories of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, as Gueye may once more come up against Hakimi. The Paris Saint-Germain full-back and his team-mates will be aiming to preserve their unbeaten record and keep their place at the top of the standings.
However, PSG manager Luis Enrique could make changes to his side. Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Marquinhos are among the players who may not feature in the starting line-up.
The probable Paris Saint-Germain team is: Matvey Safonov; Achraf Hakimi, Illia Zabarnyi, Willian Pacho, Theo Hernandez; Joao Neves, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz; Maghnes Akliouche, Ferran Torres and Desire Doue.
Villarreal are also expected to have several key players available for the game. Pape Gueye, Sergi Cardona and Georges Mikautadze could all start against the French champions.
The probable Villarreal line-up is: Peter Gulacsi; Freeman, Pau Navarro, Renato Veiga, Sergi Cardona; Saliba, Pape Gueye, Santi Comesana; Buchanan, Alberto Moleiro and Georges Mikautadze.
The meeting at the Estadio Ceramica therefore offers a potential reunion between Hakimi and Gueye, while Villarreal will look to use home advantage to challenge a PSG side seeking to maintain its position at the summit.
