Uganda friendlies against Tanzania and Madagascar in Morocco cancelled over health concerns

International friendly matches involving Uganda, Tanzania and Madagascar have been officially cancelled after authorities raised sanitary and public health concerns ahead of the fixtures scheduled to be played in Marrakech.

The two matches, which were expected to form part of the teams’ preparations for upcoming international commitments, will no longer go ahead as planned following a decision communicated through match agents.

According to organisers, the cancellation was prompted by concerns flagged by relevant authorities over sanitary conditions and broader public health considerations in the host environment. No further details have yet been provided on the specific nature of the concerns.

The fixtures were part of a short international window intended to give the teams competitive match practice, with Uganda particularly keen to use the games to fine-tune their squad and tactical setup.

Tanzania and Madagascar had also viewed the encounters as valuable opportunities to assess squad depth and build cohesion.

Officials involved in arranging the matches are expected to review alternative options, including the possibility of rescheduling or relocating the fixtures to another venue outside Morocco.

However, no immediate confirmation has been given on revised plans.

The cancellation represents a setback for all three national teams, who will now need to adjust their preparation schedules at short notice ahead of upcoming international assignments.
