UEFA confirms Camp Nou as venue for 2029 Champions League final

The 2029 Champions League final will be played at Camp Nou, the home of FC Barcelona, after UEFA confirmed the venues for the next two editions of its flagship club competition.

The 2028 final will take place at Munich’s Allianz Arena. The stadium has previously staged the showpiece in 2012 and 2025.

Camp Nou, which has now been renovated, last hosted the Champions League final in 1999, having also been the venue in 1989.

This season’s final will be held at Atletico de Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano for only the second time in the competition’s history.

UEFA has also allocated venues for the 2027 and 2028 Super Cups, as well as the finals of its other European club competitions.

The Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam will stage the Super Cup on 11 August 2027, when the winners of the Champions League and Europa League meet for the annual UEFA trophy.

It will be the first time the Super Cup has been played in the Netherlands under its current format.

The fixture was traditionally contested over two legs before becoming a single match in 1998, with Monaco’s Stade Louis II serving as its permanent venue. That arrangement ended in 2013, when UEFA began selecting a different host stadium each year.

“Under its current format, the UEFA Super Cup has never been played in the Netherlands, which is why we are delighted to host the match in our country for the first time,” said KNVB secretary general Gijs de Jong.

Johan Cruijff Arena chief executive Tanja Dik also welcomed the decision.

“To mark the end of the year of our 30th anniversary, we have the honour of welcoming the best of European football,” she said. “We look forward to giving players, supporters and visitors from across Europe a warm welcome at the Johan Cruijff Arena.”
