Anis Boujelbene in line for Tunisia job

The Tunisian Football Federation is reportedly considering appointing Anis Boujelbene as the next head coach of the national team amid growing uncertainty surrounding the future of Hervé Renard.

The North African side are currently seeking for clarity regarding the managerial position following their elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

Renard took charge of the Carthage Eagles midway through the tournament after the dismissal of Sabri Lamouchi, who was relieved of his duties following disappointing performances during the group stage.

Although the experienced French tactician stepped in to stabilize the team during the competition, reports indicate that he has not yet made a final decision regarding whether he wants to continue leading Tunisia beyond the World Cup.

Negotiations are reportedly ongoing between Renard and the Tunisian Football Federation as officials attempt to convince the former Morocco and Saudi Arabia coach to remain in charge.

However, Tunisian football authorities are also preparing alternative plans in case discussions with Renard fail to produce an agreement.

According to reports, federation officials are now leaning toward appointing a local coach should the Frenchman decide to step away from the role.

Anis Boujelbene, who currently manages Tunisia’s Under-23 national team, has reportedly emerged as the leading candidate for the position.

Boujelbene is highly regarded within Tunisian football circles for his work with the youth setup and his understanding of the country’s football structure and emerging talent pool.

His potential appointment would signal a shift toward a long-term rebuilding project centered on local expertise and youth development following Tunisia’s disappointing World Cup campaign.

The Tunisian Football Federation is expected to make a final decision on the coaching situation in the coming weeks as the Eagles of Carthage begin preparations for upcoming international competitions and qualification campaigns.
