Tanzania and Canada face must-win showdown for Womens U20 World Cup last-16 place

Tanzania and Canada meet on Friday in a decisive Group B contest, with both sides needing a result to keep their hopes of reaching the last 16 of the Women’s U20 World Cup alive.

The match will be played at Arena Katowice at 13:00 GMT on 11 September 2026, in the third and final round of the group stage.

Tanzania have no margin for error after suffering heavy successive defeats by Brazil and England. Victory is essential if they are to have any chance of progressing as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams.

Canada face a similar situation after collecting one point from their opening match, which ended in a draw. They will guarantee qualification with a win, while another draw would leave their prospects heavily reliant on results in the other groups.

The two nations therefore enter the meeting with their final opportunity to secure a place in the knockout stage.
