Tunisia coach Sabri Lamouchi names final 26-man squad for 2026 World Cup

Tunisia head coach Sabri Lamouchi has named his final 26-man squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The expanded 48-team tournament has seen Tunisia secure one of Africa’s nine automatic qualification spots. The Carthage Eagles have been drawn in a competitive Group F alongside Sweden, Japan, and the 2010 finalists Netherlands.

The North African side will open their campaign against Sweden on June 15 before facing Japan and the Netherlands in what promises to be a tough group stage.

Lamouchi’s squad blends experience and young talents, with key figures including Ellyes Skhiri, Elyes Saad, Firas Chaouat, and Ali Abdi expected to carry much of the team’s hopes.

Meanwhile, former Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri, who is currently in the books of Burnley has been drafted into the team for the global showpiece.

Tunisia has made six appearances in the history of the FIFA World Cup, featuring in 1978, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2018, and 2022.

Despite establishing themselves as one of Africa’s regular participants, the Cartage Eagles has struggled to progress beyond the group stage. Their most memorable modern moment arrived in 2022, when they stunned defending champions France 1–0, yet narrowly missed out on advancing.

As preparations intensify, Tunisia head into the tournament aiming to finally break their long-standing barrier and reach the knockout stage for the first time in their World Cup history.
