TS Galaxy warned they must start winning now by stand-in coach Esau Mtsweni

TS Galaxy stand-in coach Esau Mtsweni says his side cannot afford to wait any longer for their Betway Premiership fortunes to improve after a difficult start to the season.

The Mpumalanga club have won just one of their opening eight matches and suffered another setback on Tuesday, when Orlando Pirates beat them 3-0.

Mtsweni rejected the suggestion that it was too soon to be concerned about their poor run, insisting that the team must begin collecting points immediately.

“Yeah, it’s a bit tricky. Obviously, we need to start winning games,” he told the media after the defeat.

“For me, I believe that it’s a bit, I can’t say it’s early, but it has to be better. We need to start winning games now, not later.

“Because if we have that mentality now, we’ll say, the next game, still early, still early, still early in the second round. We need to start winning games now.”

The result leaves The Rockets languishing near the bottom of the Betway Premiership table, with Mtsweni facing the task of improving both the team’s confidence and its performances.

He said the psychological effect of successive defeats had made it important for his players to take a short break before returning to training.

“I think the first thing first to the team, I said to them, we need to rest a bit. Because losing games is not a good feeling,” said Mtsweni.

“So, I felt that they need to go home and rest a bit. Then we’ll start again on, I’m sure after two days, so that we can start working on our mistakes and prepare for the next match.”

The stand-in coach must now help the squad recover mentally while addressing the tactical problems exposed in their latest defeat. With time becoming increasingly limited, TS Galaxy need a significant improvement in their upcoming fixtures.
