TS Galaxy are expected to name Bosnian coach Admir Adzem as their new head coach during the upcoming FIFA international break, with the club believed to be completing the final arrangements for his appointment.
The Rockets had identified the 53-year-old as their preferred candidate after Bernard Parker left his position, as previously reported by the Siya crew. Sources close to the club have now indicated that Galaxy are likely to finalise the process and formally bring Adzem in during the break.
Esau Mtsweni has continued to oversee the senior side on an interim basis while the Mpumalanga-based club searches for a permanent replacement. However, a difficult run of results has increased the pressure on Galaxy to resolve the situation.
They were beaten 3-0 by Orlando Pirates before suffering the same scoreline against Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday, a result which also ended their Carling Knockout Cup campaign.
Galaxy will have a short window to complete the coaching change after this weekend’s Betway Premiership fixtures. Matches that had been scheduled for November 4 were postponed because of the local government elections in South Africa, meaning the weekend’s games will be the final league fixtures before the FIFA break.
The timing would allow Adzem to take charge after the break, as Galaxy seek more stability in their technical department and an improvement in their league form.
His arrival would continue the club’s recent association with Bosnian coaches. Sead Ramovic and Adnan Beganovic have previously held the head coach’s position at the Rockets.
Mtsweni is expected to return to his previous role with Galaxy’s DStv Diski Challenge team once the new coach assumes responsibility for the senior side.
