TS Galaxy consider replacing coach Bernard Parker after poor start

TS Galaxy are considering removing Bernard Parker as head coach and returning him to his former position as assistant, according to sources who spoke to KickOff.

The club has not made a formal announcement, but it is understood that Galaxy are looking for an experienced coach to take charge after a difficult opening to the campaign.

Parker’s future has come under scrutiny after TS Galaxy won only one of their first seven matches. They have drawn three and lost three, with their only victory coming against Marumo Gallants in August.

The former Kaizer Chiefs striker was appointed on a permanent basis after initially taking temporary charge in April. He succeeded Adnan Beganovic, who had left the club, and helped steady Galaxy during the final league matches of last season.

That run was enough to preserve the club’s Betway Premiership status. Parker also guided the side to the Nedbank Cup final, a run that impressed chairman Tim Sukazi and contributed to the decision to give him the job on a full-time basis.

However, the team’s results at the start of the new campaign have reportedly prompted the club to reconsider its plans. Should the change go ahead, Parker would return to the assistant-coach role he previously held.

The Rockets face another demanding test when they play Orlando Pirates at Orlando Amstel Arena on Tuesday. Kick-off is scheduled for 19:30.
