Trabzonspor launch loan move for Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare
Turkish giants Trabzonspor have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare by making an official approach to sign the Wolverhampton Wanderers striker ahead of the new season.
According to reports, Trabzonspor have submitted a loan proposal for the Super Eagles attacker as they seek to bolster their frontline before the close of the summer transfer window.
The Black Sea outfit are eager to reinforce their attacking department and have identified Arokodare as one of their priority targets, with the club preparing for the possible departure of fellow Nigerian international Paul Onuachu.
Onuachu has been linked with a move away from Trabzonspor in recent weeks, prompting the Turkish side to begin searching for a proven replacement capable of leading the attack. Arokodare’s physical presence, aerial dominance and eye for goal have reportedly made him an ideal candidate to fill that role.
The towering striker has continued to attract attention following his impressive development in European football. Renowned for his strength, intelligent movement and ability to hold up play, Arokodare has established himself as one of Nigeria’s most promising centre-forwards and is increasingly viewed as a player capable of making a significant impact at the highest level.
Despite Trabzonspor’s interest, securing his signature is expected to be far from straightforward.
Arokodare remains under a long-term contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C., and the Premier League side are reportedly reluctant to sanction a temporary departure. Instead, Wolves are believed to favour a permanent transfer should they decide to part ways with the Nigerian international.
That stance could complicate negotiations, with Trabzonspor’s initial proposal centred on a loan deal rather than an outright purchase. Unless the Turkish club improve their offer or include an obligation to buy, Wolves may be unwilling to approve the move.
For Trabzonspor, signing Arokodare would represent a major statement of intent as they look to assemble a squad capable of challenging for domestic honours and competing strongly in Europe. His combination of height, power and finishing ability would provide a different dimension to the club’s attack and help offset the potential loss of Onuachu.
As discussions continue, Arokodare’s future is likely to remain one of the transfer window’s intriguing storylines. With interest growing from across Europe, the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining whether the Nigerian striker remains in the Premier League or embarks on a new challenge in the Turkish Süper Lig.
