Joseph Ndoko named TP Mazember Ladies coach

TP Mazembe Ladies have turned to experienced Cameroonian tactician Joseph Brian Touongo Ndoko to lead the club into a new era, appointing him as their new head coach ahead of a crucial phase of the season.

Ndoko takes charge of the Congolese giants following the departure of Moroccan coach Lamia Boumehdi, who oversaw a successful spell at the club and helped strengthen Mazembe’s status among the leading forces in African women’s football.

The appointment marks a significant milestone in Ndoko’s coaching career, as it represents his first major managerial role outside Cameroon. Widely respected for his tactical expertise and player development skills, the CAF Licence A holder arrives in Lubumbashi with an impressive résumé built across both men’s and women’s football.

Over the years, Ndoko has managed several clubs in Cameroon, including ISOHSA of Limbe, Aigle of Menoua and DAC 2000, earning a reputation as a disciplined coach capable of building competitive and well-organised teams. His work has also gained recognition at continental level, with the Cameroonian tactician previously receiving a nomination for a prestigious CAF coaching award.

His biggest achievements, however, have come on the international stage with Cameroon’s women’s national teams. Ndoko played a key role in guiding the Indomitable Lionesses during the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where the team produced a memorable campaign. Cameroon remained unbeaten in regulation time throughout the tournament and emerged as one of the competition’s standout sides, boasting both a formidable attack and a resilient defence.

The team eventually bowed out after a penalty shootout defeat to eventual champions Nigeria in the semi-finals, but their performances were enough to secure qualification for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Ndoko also enjoyed success with Cameroon’s U-17 women’s national team, steering the side to qualification for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after an impressive campaign in which his team won all six of their qualifying matches.

His arrival comes at a crucial moment for TP Mazembe Ladies, who are determined to maintain their dominance on the domestic scene while strengthening their challenge on the continental stage. The club will be aiming to add more silverware to their trophy cabinet and secure qualification for the next edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Beyond his coaching responsibilities, Ndoko is also expected to play a broader role within the club’s structure. He will reportedly be involved in overseeing strategic sporting decisions and helping shape the future direction of the women’s team as the club seeks to build on its recent successes.

With expectations high and ambitions growing, TP Mazembe Ladies will hope Ndoko’s wealth of experience and proven track record can help the club remain among Africa’s elite and continue competing for major honours both at home and across the continent.
