Tottenham weighing future of Pape Matar Sarr as midfielder attracts Premier League interest

Tottenham are prepared to consider offers for Pape Matar Sarr after the midfielder was left out of the club’s pre-season tour to Australia and New Zealand, with Brentford and Aston Villa among the sides monitoring his situation.

The Senegal international, who enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season despite Spurs’ collective struggles, did not travel with Roberto De Zerbi’s squad for their overseas preparations. His omission has intensified speculation that he could leave this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, De Zerbi is open to sanctioning a sale if Tottenham can bring in a replacement of a similar profile. Formal negotiations over Sarr’s future have not yet begun, but four clubs are understood to have made initial enquiries.

Sarr, 23, is said to be carefully assessing his options and is not ruling out a move if the sporting project on offer proves convincing. Sarr is under contract at Tottenham until June 2030, placing the club in a strong position to demand a significant fee. The midfielder, born in Thiaroye, is currently valued at €30m on Transfermarkt.

Last season he featured in 37 matches in all competitions for Spurs, scoring two goals and providing four assists.
