Tottenham boss De Zerbi says Omar Marmoush is ready to face Newcastle

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi says new signing Omar Marmoush is fit to make his debut against Newcastle United and could even start Saturday’s Premier League match.

Marmoush joined Tottenham from Manchester City on loan, with the deal including an obligation for the club to make the transfer permanent. De Zerbi said the Egypt international would give his side greater attacking variety as they prepare for their next fixture.

“Marmoush’s arrival is a great signing for us, he is a great player. We all love him as a player and wish him all the best,” De Zerbi said at his pre-match news conference.

The Tottenham manager believes Marmoush can provide both a goal threat and technical quality in attack.

“I think he will add more attacking solutions. We need attacking players capable of scoring goals, and also capable of playing with the ball skilfully,” he added.

De Zerbi also highlighted the pace and qualities that Marmoush will bring to the Tottenham attack.

“Marmoush is a very fast player, he has great qualities, and we are all extremely happy to have signed him,” he said.

Asked about the forward’s availability for the meeting with Newcastle United, De Zerbi confirmed that Marmoush is ready to play and suggested he may be included in the starting line-up.

“Marmoush is ready to play against Newcastle, and he may start the match as well,” De Zerbi said.

The fixture will see Marmoush face a club against whom he has enjoyed notable success. Newcastle United are described as his favourite opponent, with the forward having scored seven goals against them previously.

Tottenham’s next game is against Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday, 29 August.

They will then travel to face Nottingham Forest in the league on Saturday, 5 September, before meeting Liverpool in the League Cup. That match is scheduled for either Tuesday, 8 September or Tuesday, 15 September.

Tottenham will return to Premier League action at home against Everton on Saturday, 12 September, followed by another home game against Aston Villa on Saturday, 19 September.

The international break will begin after the match against Aston Villa.
