Pedro Porro ruled out of Spain squad for September international break

Pedro Porro has been withdrawn from Spain’s squad for the September international break after suffering an injury while playing for Tottenham Hotspur against Aston Villa.

The Spanish Football Federation confirmed the decision in an official statement, saying the defender had been injured during the Premier League match. No replacement will be called up, meaning Spain’s squad will contain 25 players rather than the original 26.

Porro was substituted in the 19th minute of Tottenham’s meeting with Aston Villa, which the visitors won 3-2.

The result meant Tottenham endured their worst start to a season without a victory after five matches, having drawn two and lost three.

Spain are preparing to face England, Croatia and the Czech Republic in the UEFA Nations League.
