Torino FC has officially ended its bid to sign Cameroonian defender Aurèle Amenda from Eintracht Frankfurt after negotiations with the player’s representatives collapsed over financial demands.
Amenda, who is under contract with the Bundesliga side until June 2029, had been a prime target for the Italian club this summer. Torino had already reached an agreement with Frankfurt on a deal worth €9 million, plus an additional €2 million in performance-related bonuses.
However, discussions with the player’s entourage broke down when the defender’s camp put forward conditions that the Serie A side deemed excessive.
The breakdown in talks leaves the transfer off the table, despite the progress made between the two clubs. The disagreement centred on personal terms, with Torino’s management unwilling to meet the financial expectations set by Amenda’s representatives. As a result, the 21-year-old is now expected to continue his career in Germany for the foreseeable future.
Amenda joined Eintracht Frankfurt with a growing reputation and has since made his mark in the Bundesliga. Born in Biel, Switzerland, but representing Cameroon at the international level, the central defender has impressed with his composure on the ball and his defensive awareness.
Last season, he made 13 appearances across all competitions, showing glimpses of his potential despite limited game time.
While Torino had identified him as a key addition to strengthen their back line ahead of the new season, the collapse of the transfer means manager Ivan Jurić will have to explore alternative options.
The Serie A side is believed to still be in the market for a commanding centre-back, but the withdrawal from the Amenda negotiations underlines the club’s unwillingness to overextend financially in the transfer market.
The failed move also highlights the often delicate balance in football negotiations, where agreements between clubs can be undermined by differences over player terms.
In Amenda’s case, his value on the market has been steadily rising. Transfermarkt currently estimates him at €7.5 million, a figure that reflects both his potential and his relatively limited top-flight experience.
For Frankfurt, keeping Amenda could prove beneficial, especially as the club looks to build squad depth for the coming campaign. With years left on his contract, they face no immediate pressure to sell and can continue his development within the team.
The defender’s versatility and promise mean he could feature more prominently in the Bundesliga this season, particularly if he continues to improve in consistency and fitness.
While this transfer window chapter between Torino and Amenda has closed, interest in the young Cameroonian is unlikely to disappear.
His profile, age, and potential make him an appealing option for clubs across Europe, though any future suitor will need to meet both Frankfurt’s valuation and the player’s contractual expectations.
For now, Amenda remains a Frankfurt player, and Torino’s search for defensive reinforcements moves on — a reminder that in football, even seemingly agreed deals can unravel in the final stages when all parties cannot align on the terms.
