Congolese tactician is on the brink of joining South African Premier League outfit Orlando Pirates heading into the new campaign.
The Soweto-giants are without a substantive coach following the departure of Spanish gaffer Jose Riveiro after the expiration of his contract.
Following his exit from Pirates, Riveiro has joined Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly, who are set to compete at the FIFA Club World Cup tournament in the USA.
The 63-year trainer is the current head coach of Sudanese giants Al Hilal, who are keen to keep him for the new campaign. Ibenge joined Al Hilal in 2022 and has since performed admirably for the team.
Despite having an existing contract with Hilal, the South African are pushing to secure his services for the new campaign.
While interest in the CAF Confederation Cup winner mounting, the Pirates are in no rush to make an official offer just yet.
As time ticks on and rumors swirl, all eyes are now on the “Buccaneers” and their upcoming European tour, which is set to kick off soon.
