Togo U20 line up confirmed for Burkina Faso test in UFOA B qualifying opener

Togo have named their starting XI for their opening match of the WAFU (UFOA) Zone B U20 qualifying tournament for the CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations, as they face Burkina Faso on Monday at 18:00 GMT.

The Eperviers U20, considered outsiders in their group, begin their campaign hoping to spring a surprise against one of the regional heavyweights, with the coach opting for a settled core and a clear leadership structure on the pitch.

Captain Labode to lead youthful Togo side

Goalkeeper Kolani Casimir, wearing number 16, starts in goal for Togo, with defender Labode Issinou handed the captain’s armband.

Labode, number 2, will marshal the back line alongside number 3, Kpatcha Teddy, and number 4, Djibril Badtou. Number 6, Afangbedji Jean, is also included in the starting side, adding further defensive stability in front of the back line.

The coach has kept faith with a largely youthful but ambitious group as Togo look to challenge expectations in a pool where they are viewed as potential dark horses rather than favourites.

Attacking options as Togo seek strong start

In attack and midfield, the Eperviers U20 will rely on a mix of creativity and energy. Number 9, Tokanou J. Stephane, is selected, supported by number 10, Doukpo Henoch, who is expected to be one of the main creative outlets.

Number 15, Ouro-Akpo Rayane, and number 19, Gbande Espoir, are also in the XI, offering options in the final third and in wide areas as Togo seek a positive result from their first outing.

Completing the line-up are number 20, Ouro-Banna Achraf, and number 21, Doto Binjamin, both included from the start as the coach sets up his side to compete physically and technically against Burkina Faso.
