Togo appoint Kader Cougbadja-Toure to lead U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers

Togo have appointed local team manager Kader Cougbadja-Toure to oversee the U23 side as preparations begin for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

The Togolese Football Federation (FTF) announced the call-up of players for an external training camp, but its decision to place Cougbadja-Toure in charge was the main development.

“An external camp under the direction of the local team manager, Kader Cougbadja-Toure,” the FTF said on its website.

The federation did not specify the nature or duration of his assignment. According to information reported to the source publication, former international Olufade Adekambi is expected to assist him.

Cougbadja-Toure will begin preparations with about 40 players drawn from clubs in the first and second divisions, as well as training centres.

Togo will face Libya in the first round of qualifying for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations. The first leg will be played in Lome on 30 September, with the return match scheduled for 6 October.
