Africa host the World Cup again in 2026. As Sepp Blatter mentioned, Africa’s only previous World Cup hosting experience was in 2010 in South Africa, which was a historic and groundbreaking event for the continent. The tournament was widely praised for its atmosphere and the positive impact it had on African football.
With Morocco, Egypt, and Ghana all expressing interest, these countries have strong football infrastructures and passionate fanbases, which would make them great candidates. Egypt has a rich footballing history and a vibrant sports culture, Morocco boasts world-class stadiums, and Ghana has been a powerhouse in African football for years.
This could bring a massive boost to African football, similar to what the 2010 tournament did, and give the continent another opportunity to showcase its growing football scene on a global stage.
With Russia hosting in 2018 and Qatar in 2022, Africa’s turn might be just around the corner again.
