Swansea secure Tom Iorpenda deal as England and Nigeria midfielder arrives from Huddersfield

Tom Iorpenda has joined Swansea from Huddersfield for €875,000, with the England and Nigeria midfielder signing a contract with the Championship club until 30 June 2029.

The 21-year-old central midfielder becomes a Swansea player after leaving Huddersfield, who he represented after progressing through the club’s youth system. The move takes Iorpenda from League One to the Championship and was completed on 31 August 2026.

Iorpenda spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Notts County before returning to Huddersfield at the end of June. He made the temporary switch to the League Two club in July 2025 and moved back to his parent club when the loan ended.

Born in London, Iorpenda is eligible to represent both England and Nigeria. He is right-footed and stands at 1.90m, with his primary position listed as central midfield.

His development at Huddersfield followed an earlier move from Brighton’s youth setup in July 2021. He joined Huddersfield’s under-17 side before progressing to the under-19s and then the under-21s, with a loan spell at Hyde United during the 2022-23 season.

Iorpenda’s arrival adds a young midfield option to Swansea’s squad as they compete in the Championship. His move follows a season in which he spent time away from Huddersfield with Notts County and now gives him the opportunity to continue his senior career in Wales.

Swansea have completed the signing for €875,000, and Iorpenda is contracted to the club through to the end of June 2029.
