Sport FM 25th anniversary tournament: northern semi-final draw sets up two Sokode clashes
Four clubs will compete for a place in the final of the northern phase of the Sport FM 25th anniversary tournament after the semi-final draw was held in Lome on Monday.
The two matches will be played at Sokode Municipal Stadium on 7 and 8 November, with three first-division sides joined by second-division champions Sara FC in the competition organised to mark the radio station’s 25 years on air.
Sport FM, known by the slogan “the radio that gets its shirt wet”, is staging the Trophee Colonel Agoro Medjessiribi tournament. The northern section begins with the semi-finals, rather than a group stage, and features Sara FC, ASCK, Semassi and Tchaoudjo Athletic Club (TAC).
Sara FC will face ASCK in the opening semi-final on Saturday, 7 November 2026.
The Bafilo-based club secured the second-division title a few weeks ago and will enter the match with the momentum of promotion to the top flight. Their opponents, ASCK, are the reigning champions of Togo but will be looking to rebuild confidence after exiting the CAF Champions League in the first preliminary round against ASEC Mimosas.
The fixture will give both sides an opportunity to assess their level and improve their understanding ahead of their next commitments.
Sunday’s semi-final will bring together Semassi and TAC in a Tchaoudjo derby.
Semassi, one of Sokode’s historic clubs and a team accustomed to strong local support, will meet a TAC side aiming to upset the established order. The Tchaoudjo Warriors begin the new season with a revamped squad and will be able to test their combinations in front of their home crowd.
TAC’s approach is built around young players and talent identification, and the club will be seeking to turn that policy into a place in the final by producing a surprise result against Semassi.
