Spanish sports daily AS highlighted the decisive impact of Moroccan international Brahim Diaz in the national team’s victory over Tanzania at the Africa Cup of Nations, praising his huge influence on the team’s attacking play.
The paper underlined how the playmaker has become the reference point in Morocco’s forward line.
AS wrote that Morocco relied on its “new genius” to overcome Tanzania, with Diaz scoring his fourth goal in four matches and forming a deadly partnership with Achraf Hakimi that helped the Atlas Lions reach the quarter-finals. The newspaper noted that Diaz once again confirmed his status as the main driving force in the team’s offensive system.
It stressed that the tournament’s top scorer managed to unlock a complicated match, showing his ability to change the course of games through inspiration and individual brilliance. Diaz, the article added, continued to act as a technical leader by constantly demanding the ball, attacking defenders, and imposing a high tempo that unsettled Tanzania’s backline.
AS also pointed to Hakimi’s important return from injury, saying he regained his usual influence on the right flank and formed a highly effective duo with Diaz.
The paper concluded that Morocco played without Azzedine Ounahi due to injury, which initially affected the team’s balance before the Lions gradually asserted control and secured the win.
