La Liga and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) will hold a minute’s silence before every match in the 11th round of La Liga and the 12th round of the Segunda Division in memory of those killed in a train collision in Toledo.
The two organisations confirmed the decision and offered their condolences to the victims’ families. They also expressed their solidarity with everyone affected by the crash.
The tribute will follow the postponement of 24 first-round matches in the Copa del Rey, which had been scheduled for Wednesday. The RFEF announced the decision because of the accident.
The collision happened on Wednesday morning on the railway line connecting Madrid with Andalusia, in the province of Toledo. An Iryo train collided with an AVE high-speed train.
According to the latest figures cited in the report, 68 people died in the crash. The incident has prompted widespread mourning and messages of support for the victims’ families and those injured.

The fixture information accompanying the report lists Barcelona in La Liga on 31 October 2026, with Deportivo Alaves and Racing Santander also shown in connection with the competition.
Real Madrid is listed for a La Liga fixture on 1 November 2026.
The minute’s silence will apply to all matches in the relevant rounds of Spain’s top two divisions, extending the football community’s condolences beyond the postponed Copa del Rey programme.
