Tshareeq Morris to join Durban City

South African striker Tshareeq Morris is reportedly closing in on a move to Premiership side Durban City as he looks to revive his career following a disappointing stint with Kaizer Chiefs.

The experienced forward endured a difficult campaign at Chiefs last season, struggling to establish himself in the team and falling down the pecking order at the Soweto giants.

Morris made fewer than 10 appearances for Amakhosi during his stay at the club, with limited game time affecting his ability to make a meaningful impact. As a result, speculation surrounding his departure has continued to grow in recent weeks.

The 32-year-old attacker is now believed to be seeking a fresh start elsewhere in an attempt to rediscover his form and secure regular playing opportunities during the latter stages of his career.

Despite his struggles at Chiefs, Morris has reportedly attracted interest from several clubs within South African football.

Gavin Hunt, who is understood to be a long-time admirer of the former SuperSport United striker, was said to be monitoring the situation closely with interest from Stellenbosch FC also mentioned.

However, Durban City have now emerged as the frontrunners to secure the striker’s signature ahead of the new season.

The move could prove beneficial for Morris, especially with former Chiefs coach Ben Youssef Khalil currently in charge at Durban City. The existing relationship between the coach and player is expected to play a key role in helping the experienced striker settle quickly and potentially rediscover his best form.

For Durban City, the addition of Morris would bring valuable experience and depth to their attacking department as they prepare for the upcoming Betway Premiership campaign.

The striker will now be hoping that a move away from Kaizer Chiefs can provide the fresh beginning needed to get his career back on track after a frustrating period at Naturena.
