Alexander Isak targeting consistency after Liverpool breakthrough

Alexander Isak says he is beginning to find his rhythm at Liverpool after scoring three goals in his first four appearances of the 2026-27 season.

The Sweden striker scored twice in Liverpool’s 2-0 Premier League win at Ipswich Town last weekend, producing two impressive finishes to help secure victory.

Isak has started all four matches so far, playing 332 minutes, after an injury-disrupted first campaign at Anfield. He is now focused on maintaining that run of fitness and form ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Fulham.

“I’m feeling good with the pre-season and the start of the season as well, scoring a couple of goals,” Isak said. “It’s just about keeping this rhythm.”

The 26-year-old was particularly satisfied with his display at Ipswich, where his finishing proved decisive.

“That is how I want to play and that’s how I want to score goals,” he said. “I was certainly happy with that. But as I said, it’s early days and I’ve got to keep going.”

Isak made only 13 starts for Liverpool during the 2025-26 campaign after suffering a serious ankle injury, including a fractured fibula, when he scored against Tottenham Hotspur in December.

Although the season brought significant frustration, he believes the difficulties have helped him develop.

“It has been challenging of course, with a lot of injuries especially,” Isak said. “But there have been some beautiful moments as well, good learning moments.

“I take all of that as stuff to help me get better and get stronger, not looking back too much and just focusing on what’s ahead.”

The striker also paid tribute to Liverpool supporters for their backing, particularly during the more challenging stages of his first season with the club.

“It means a lot,” he said. “I was really excited about coming here and being a part of that relationship between the club and the players and the fans.

“You can really feel that. It’s really something valuable. It’s brilliant support all the time, even during difficult times for the team. They have been brilliant so far as long as I’ve been here.”

Liverpool have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.

Barcola made his first start alongside Isak on Wednesday night, and the Sweden international believes the partnership could benefit the team.

“Of course, it’s a big signing for us and he’s a great player that we all know very well from what he’s done previously,” Isak said.

“I’m sure he’s going to be someone to help make us much better as a team. So, we’re really excited.”
